These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Digital Library website and the e-books, audiobooks and other digital content sold through it (the "Service"). The Service is operated by [Legal entity name], [Registered address], Lebanon ("Digital Library", "we", "us"). By creating an account, placing an order or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
1. Who can use the Service
- You may browse the catalogue and read free samples without an account.
- To buy, read or download purchased titles you need an account. You must be at least 18 years old, or have the permission and supervision of a parent or legal guardian who accepts these Terms on your behalf.
- You must give accurate information and keep your email address up to date, because it is how you sign in and how we send receipts.
2. Your account and sign-in
- Customer accounts do not use passwords. You sign in with a one-time code that we email to you (and, where offered, a code sent to your phone). Each code is valid for a short time and can only be used once.
- You are responsible for keeping access to your email account secure. Anyone who can read your email can request a code and sign in as you. Do not share sign-in codes with anyone; our staff will never ask you for one.
- You can see and sign out of your active sessions, change your name, email address or phone number, and delete your account at any time from your Account page.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaches these Terms, is used fraudulently, or puts the Service or other customers at risk. Where reasonable we will tell you why and give you a chance to respond.
3. Digital products and formats
- Titles are supplied as digital files only: EPUB and PDF e-books and MP3 audiobooks, as listed on each book's page. Nothing physical is shipped.
- Each product page shows the formats included in the purchase. Please check them, and the free sample where available, before you buy.
- Our files are DRM-free: they are not locked to an app or device. You can read in your browser on our site or download the files to the reading apps and devices you choose.
4. Your licence
When an order is paid, we grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to download, store, read and listen to the purchased titles for your own private, non-commercial use, on devices you own or control. The titles are licensed, not sold; the authors and publishers keep all copyright and other rights.
You may:
- keep copies of your files on your own devices and in your own backups;
- convert a file to another format for your own personal reading.
You may not:
- share, upload, publish, sell, rent, lend or otherwise distribute the files, or make them available to anyone else (including through file-sharing services, public cloud links or group chats);
- remove or alter copyright notices, author attributions or file metadata;
- use the content to train or build machine-learning or AI systems, or for any commercial purpose;
- attempt to bypass any access control of the Service, or access files you have not purchased.
DRM-free does not mean copyright-free. Breach of this section ends your licence immediately and may lead to account closure and legal action by us or the rights holders.
5. Prices and currency
- All prices are set and charged in US dollars (USD).
- Where we show an amount in Lebanese pounds (LBP), it is an approximate conversion for your convenience, based on an exchange rate we update periodically. It is not a separate price and is not what you are charged.
- Prices may change at any time, but a change will not affect an order you have already placed. Promotional codes are subject to the conditions shown with them, cannot be exchanged for cash and may be withdrawn at any time.
- If a price is displayed in obvious error, we may cancel the affected order and refund any amount you paid.
6. Ordering and payment
6.1 Whish Money transfer
At checkout you receive payment instructions, including our Whish Money merchant details and your order number to use as the transfer reference. After you send the transfer, you submit its transaction reference and, optionally, a screenshot or photo of the receipt. Our team checks the transfer against the order before the order is marked as paid.
- An unpaid order is held for 48 hours. If we do not receive matching payment evidence in that time, the order expires and you can place it again.
- We may reject payment evidence that does not match the order (for example a wrong amount, a reference already used for another order, or an unreadable receipt). We will tell you why and how to fix it.
- You are responsible for any fees charged by Whish Money or your bank.
6.2 Card payments
We may offer card payment through a third-party payment processor in the future. When available, card details are entered on the processor's secure page and are never seen or stored by us.
6.3 When the contract is formed
Your order is an offer to buy. The contract is formed, and your licence starts, when we confirm payment. We may refuse or cancel an order before that point, for example in the case of suspected fraud, and will refund anything you paid.
7. Delivery and access
- As soon as payment is confirmed, the titles appear in your library and we email you a receipt. You can then read them in the browser or download them.
- Whish Money transfers are verified by our team, so access follows our review rather than being instantaneous. We aim to review payments promptly during business hours.
- You can re-download your titles from your library for as long as your account is active and the licence has not ended (see sections 4 and 8).
8. Downloads and fair use
To protect authors and keep the Service available to everyone, we apply fair-use limits:
- Download links are personal and expire after a few minutes. Do not share them.
- We apply daily limits on the number of downloads per account and per file. The limits are generous for personal use; if you reach one, you can try again the next day or contact us.
- We record each download and the devices used (see our Privacy Policy). We suggest using your library on up to 3 devices; using many more may lead us to contact you.
- If activity suggests sharing or redistribution, we may pause downloads, suspend the account or revoke the affected licences.
We may need to stop offering a title (for example if a publisher withdraws it). Where possible we will keep it available in the libraries of customers who already bought it; if we cannot, we will give you reasonable notice to download your copy.
9. Refunds and cancellations
Because digital content is available to you immediately after payment, sales are generally final once access has been granted. We will, however, refund an order within 14 days of purchase if:
- the file is defective or unreadable and we cannot supply a working replacement;
- the title is materially different from its description on our site;
- you were charged twice for the same title, or charged by mistake; or
- you could not access the title because of a problem on our side that we could not fix.
To ask for a refund, contact us through Contact or the support chat with your order number and a short description of the problem. Approved refunds are returned through the original payment method (for Whish Money, by transfer back to the sending account) in the amount charged in USD. When an order is refunded, the licence for the refunded titles ends and they are removed from your library; you must delete any copies you downloaded.
You may cancel an order at any time while it is still awaiting payment. Nothing in this section limits rights you may have under consumer protection law in Lebanon.
10. Reviews and other content you post
You may post ratings and reviews, favourites, support messages and attachments (for example a payment receipt). You keep ownership of what you post, but you give us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive licence to host, display and use it in connection with the Service (for reviews, publicly on the book's page together with your display name).
Reviews must be honest and based on your own experience of the book. You must not post content that:
- is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, harassing, obscene or threatening;
- infringes anyone's copyright, trademark, privacy or other rights, or reveals a book's text beyond short quotations;
- is spam, advertising, or written in exchange for payment or another benefit without disclosure;
- contains personal information of others, links to pirated copies, or malicious code.
We may moderate, hide or remove any content that breaks these rules, and may restrict the account that posted it. Reviews from customers who bought the title may be labelled as verified purchases.
11. Support and contact
You can reach us through the support chat available to signed-in customers, or through the form on our Contact page. Messages are handled by our staff, not by an automated assistant. Please do not send payment card details, passwords or sign-in codes in any message.
12. Acceptable use of the Service
You agree not to:
- misuse the Service, interfere with its security or operation, or try to access accounts, files or areas you are not authorised to access;
- scrape, crawl or copy the catalogue or content by automated means, except as permitted by our robots.txt for search engines;
- use the Service for fraud, including submitting false payment evidence;
- impersonate any person, or create accounts to evade a suspension.
13. Intellectual property
The Digital Library name, logo, website design and software, and our own descriptions and editorial content, belong to us or our licensors. Book content, covers and author materials belong to their respective rights holders. Except for the licence in section 4, these Terms do not give you any rights in them.
If you believe content on the Service infringes your rights, contact us through the Contact page with enough detail for us to identify the material and your claim. We will review it promptly and remove infringing material where appropriate.
14. Availability and changes to the Service
We work to keep the Service available and secure, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted or error-free. We may change, suspend or discontinue features (including payment methods) at any time. Planned maintenance will be kept as short as reasonably possible.
15. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
- The Service and content are provided "as is" and "as available". We do not warrant that a title will meet your particular needs or be compatible with every device or app, which is why we provide samples and format details before purchase.
- To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, loss of data or loss of profits arising from your use of the Service.
- Our total liability for any claim relating to an order is limited to the amount you paid for that order.
- Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including liability for fraud or for rights you have as a consumer.
16. Ending your use of the Service
You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time from your Account page. Deleting your account ends your access to your library, including the ability to read or download titles from us, so please download any files you want to keep first. We keep order records as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may end or suspend your access if you materially breach these Terms. Sections 4 (restrictions), 9, 10, 13, 15 and 17 continue to apply after your account ends.
17. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Lebanon. Before starting any formal proceedings, please contact us so we can try to resolve the issue informally. If a dispute cannot be resolved within 30 days, it will be submitted to the competent courts of [City], Lebanon, without prejudice to any mandatory rights you have as a consumer.
18. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time, for example when we add a payment method or change how the Service works. The date at the top shows when they were last changed. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you by email or on the site before it takes effect. Orders are governed by the Terms in force when the order was placed.
